Yeah, I agree,this is nonsensical. But these things are actually happening in our country nowadays. It so happened that Kunal Kamra uploaded a new comedy video on YouTube and in this video, he sang a song. check now youtube and google.
This became an issue because of one line from one of the songs. The line was: "From my perspective, he looks like a traitor." Are you wondering who's being discussed here?
No one is mentioned in the song, about who is this alleged traitor. But after listening to the song,Eknath Shinde's supporters feel that these allegations sound familiar. They suspect that their boss,Shinde, is the one being called a traitor. They were furious at this song. So they went to The Habitat. The place where this comedy skit was shot. They started looking for Kunal Kamra there. Once they were told that he wasn't there, One of them got angry, because he had seen Kamra's YouTube video just an hour ago and he couldn't believe that he wasn't still there.

So, friends, this should tell you about the IQ of these goons. Anyway, why did they go to The Habitat?
They believed that Kunal made fun of their boss, so they wanted tomake fun of Kunal. To roast him so bad, that it'll turn into a roast battle. Well, no, they can't do this. Because comedy requires a sense of humour. It requires creativity and talent. Comedy requires a spark and a healthy amount of IQ. These people had gone there to destroy things. And so, they destroyed the venue. Kunal said that attacking a venue because of what a comedian said, is as senseless as overturning a tomato lorry because someone didn't like butter chicken. After all this destruction, they called Kunal to make death threats. And that made for an interesting call recording.
Call recording: Hello. Is this Kunal Kamra? Ha. This goon mentioned That shinde was their Chief Minister. Kunal corrects him that he isn't the CM anymore, he's the Deputy Chief Minister. What did you say about our boss in your video? Who's your boss? Shinde Sir, Our chief Minister. What did you say about him in your video? He's not the CM,he's the Deputy CM. Then this guy said vile stuff To kunal and asked for his address. Where are you? Tamil Nadu. We'll come beat you up in Tamil Nadu. Yeah, sure, come to Tamil Nadu. Where do we need to come? Tamil Nadu. How will we go To tamil Nadu, brother? How are they supposed to go to Tamil Nadu, guys? Is Kunal supposed to arrange for their travel?
What a bunch of idiots! Some of these idiots burnt Kamra's effigy. Well, okay, I get that they were protesting against Kunal. And everyone does have the right to protest. But then, listen to their slogans. "Death to Kunal Kalra!" They are asking For kunal Kalra's death. But his name is Kunal Kamra, not Kunal Kalra. Even if they are foolish goons for hire, they should've put in some efforts. They're being paid for this, they were burning someone's effigy, the least they should've done is find out the person's name. They are such slackers that that if their boss is reading this article ,I'd ask him to ask this guy withthe effigy for a refund. He couldn't even dohis one job properly. Now, let's hear what their boss had to say about this. To this, Eknath Shinde said that there's always a reaction to any action. Think about it. Maharashtra's Deputy CM said this. A person working at this position, couldn't have stopped supporting hooliganism. Eknath Shinde said that freedom of expression does exist, but there should be a limit. So, before making a joke about him, are we supposed to write a letter to his ministry seeking permission?
Whether we can and cannot make a joke. and they can do another thing, they can have the Chief minister's Office issue a notification which clearly defines what's within the limit and what's not. That won't take a lot of time. Anyway, their government doesn't work much. They're always busy with such issues. Sometimes, they're busy with a film. And now with controversies about comedians.
Friends, the truth is, Kunal had mentioned the limit in his comedy video. He held up a copy of the Constitution of India, and had clearly said that his skit was entirely within the framework of our Constitution. Our Constitution gives all Indian citizens a right to freedom of speech. And the reasonable restrictions to it have also been clearly defined in the Constitution.
- What are these restrictions?
These restrictions are that you cannot spew poison against any community. You cannot attempt to show discord in society. These limits have been continually breached by BJP leaders and pro-BJP media for years. If someone is in contravention of these limits, those are the news anchors like Arnab Goswami and thesepro-government channels that spew poison against an entire community. They spread false news, they insult Indian citizens, and sow hatred. But making fun of a politician does not fall under the reasonable restrictions to the freedom of speech. That's why Kunal has been upfront about this, he has nothing to apologise for. "What I said is exactly what Mr Ajit Pawar (1st Deputy CM) said about Mr Eknath shinde (2nd Deputy CM). I don't fear this mob & I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down." Kunal also said that the one who have leaked his number, who were repeatedly calling him, threatening him,making death threats, they are sent directly to voicemail, and before being directed to the voicemail, they get to hear the same song again, the one from his comedy show. if Eknath Shinde and his people feel like Kunal's skit was a breach of Freedom of Expression, they can file a court case against him, Shinde may file a defamation case. But no, they feel the need to resort to hooliganism, and draw criticism against the country. But another question here is that will law be just and fair here?
- Will there be legal action against those, who caused so much destruction at the venue?
The latest news is that these people have already been granted bail. the truth is that,in our country, the government and the judicial system have made a mockery of law and order. On every matter,even the small ones, the accusation might be proved later on, but there's bulldozer action first. Comedians get death threats for this skits. But if you actually kill someone, you will be asked to write an essay. And you'll be released. If someone is caught being corrupt, it's not a big deal, they'll need to make some political donations, go into the famous washing machine, and all crimes are washed away. But something that'snot even a crime, you might be punished for that. While the criminals, are welcomed with garlands. In the name of vigilantism, such hooliganism has become the norm in our country. Another comedian, Nalin Yadav, woke up on the morning of 16th March and saw a motorcycle tyre burning on his roof. When he informed his neighbour, that neighbour and his tenant started hurling abuses at him. They beat him up and his brother. When Yadav called the police helpline, he was told to goto the police station. And when he went to the police station, he was told to call the police helpline. A crowd of about 50 people gathered in front of his house and he had to go live On instagram for his safety. He told The Wire that those people were connected to a local politician one who keeps moving from one party to another. After Nalin's mother's death, this politician wanted to buy his house at a significantly low price. But Nalin did not sell this house. This wasn't the first attack on Nalin. He has been facing similar attacks for the past 3-4 years. The day Munawar Faruqui was arrested, Yadav had a 5-minute comedy set that day in that cafe. BJP MLA's son, Eklavya Gaur, went to the cafe with a mob and shut everything down, when the police arrived, they Arrested munawar, Nalin, and 3 other men. Nalin hadn't even done anything. He didn't even do political comedy. None of his videos went viral, but still, he had to remain in jail for 57 days. When he got released from jail, society was already seeing him asa criminal due to the media reports. Using this as an excuse, this local leader and his goons started beating him up. They use this as an "excuse," and have attacked him 6-7 times already. Even after repeatedly complaining to the police, none of the goons were arrested. In fact, a counter-FIRwas filed against Yadav. The police served him a notice for inciting violence. His comedy career was completely ruined, because the venues started shuting him out. The organisers dropped him and he started working at a digital marketing company. But as soon as the company found out about his imprisonment, he was fired from that job too. He had to labour fora daily wage of ₹200 and now he works in real estate to make a living. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted about this on 18th March, requesting MadhyaPradesh's authorities, to let this youngman live in peace. I, too, request this of MadhyaPradesh's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav. Our country is a free country. Any citizen forced to suffer such hooliganism, is a matter of shame for your administration. Last month, in Maharashtra's Solapur, comedian Pranit More was doing his show. He made fun of Bollywood actor Veer Pahariya. Pranit said that after the show, a man named Tanveer Shaikh approarched him with 11-12 people and these people beat Pranit. They warned him against making jokes on Veer Pahariya 'Baba' next time. Later, Veer disassociated himself from this incident and said that he had no involvement in this. But think about how common suchhooliganism has become in our country. Rape threats against comedian Agrima Joshua were made openly by agoon named Shubham Mishra. Then came the apology. The one making the rape threats didn't apologise. Agrima did.
- Why did she apologise?
Because the misinformation and lies spread on WhatsApp University and Quora are believed bythe blind supporters. Agrima joked about the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji maharaj commissioned by PM Modi. Someone claimed that it would have solar cells which would power the entire state of Maharashtra. Another person said it wouldhave a GPS tracker and laser light. In fact, Agrima didn't make up this bit of the joke. It was actually a Popular whatsapp forward. You can still see this message posted on the Facebook page NaMo Mantra. A person with even an donkey's level of IQ, would have a clear understanding that the joke is on the stupidity of the blind followers. They believe everything to be true.
- How was this portrayed?
The Agrima has made a joke on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. That was enough of a license to these criminals, to make rape threats. It is important to state that back then, the Maharastra government was run by Uddhav Thackeray. Shubham Mishra was arrested by the Gujarat police. And his reasoning was that he wanted to be a participant in a reality show. Now, you must've guessed which reality TV show invites such horrible people. After this, we haven't anymore of Agrima's comedy videos. No one could Assure agrima that she was safe. Every citizen's safety is the government's responsibility. She shouldn't have to worry. But no, here too, her comedy career, her dream, everything was crushed. Something similar happened to comedian Mohit Morani. He had uploaded a video in which he said that his roommate got acall from HDFC bank introducing himself as Abdul. So his roommate started shouting at this random Muslim guy, that he could speak up then, but where was he in 1990 When kashmiri Pandits were driven out?
On this, Abdul replied that he was born in 1992. Again, it follows the same pattern. Anyone with commonsense can see that the joke is about those people who hate every Muslim person. But a right wing propaganda website wrote that that Mohit Morani made fun of the attrocities faced by Kashmiri Pandits. And then the blind followers began their outrage.
- How could he say that?
They can't use their brains to understand what was said and in what sense. And on this, he started getting death threats. Friends, if you think that these things happen only when the person makes political jokes or gets involved with politics, don't be fooled. The ongoing atmosphere ofhooliganism throughout our country, it affects everyone. After this incident, Mohit Morani stuck to non-political comedy.
In a show in 2022,he joked about and on this, a couple got offended, and the police were called. One of his fellow comedians had joked that they don't like it when someone touches them. It's infuriating. On this too, a person got on the stage and started touching them asking how can someone get angry at it.
Once a thug with many followers on social media brought 50 people to Mohit's comedy club. When the police was called, they took no action against this thug. Instead, Mohit was told to give in to the thugs, and apologise to them.
The thing is looking at what's happening in our country now, all these thugs and criminals, it has been established in their minds that even if they do any sort of hooliganism, there won't be any action against them. This is the situation everywhere in our country. Chief Ministers are indirectly supporting these. And the Prime Minister chooses silence. In the midst of all this, the lives of the common people are getting difficult. After the destruction at The Habitat, an Instagram user posted about it, that the police were there, but the police did nothing. When Shinde's supporters went in, there were more than 80 people in the auditorium who had paid for the tickets to watch a program. Shinde's supporters shouted at them and asked them to leave, but everyone remained seated. But when these goons started breaking the glass at the bar counter, how could people sit there any longer?
The members of the habitat asked them to leave. There were around 20 police officers. But the police did not protect the citizens, they were there to protect these thugs. Even though the police were there, this hooliganism continued, and there's video evidence of that. In Modi's New India, let's forget about the ease of doing business, but the ease of being a criminal is simply amazing.

Where the police escort criminals. Many times we have seen that if a group of such hooligans make threats about a show, then the police cancel that show. Like last month in Uttar Pradesh, the police Cancelled anubhav Singh Bassi's show. They didn't give NOC to the organisers, and the primary reason was stated to be security concerns. They said that if Bassi said something wrong, people might'protest' against him and it would create a law and order issue, so they thought that it's better to cancel the show.This has happened many times with Kunal Kamra.It's possible only in Modi's New Bharat.Because in our older India,during Jawaharlal Nehru's tenure,one of India's most famous cartoon ists was Keshav Shankar Pillai.He made about 4,000cartoons featuring Pandit Nehru.In some of the cartoons, Pandit nehru was mercilessly mocked.But in response,he told Shankar,to not spare him.He wanted Shankar to continue being ruthless.Telling him that he helps Nehru see his shortcomings.Our Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was also like this.
Nowadays, politicians think of themselves to be kings.Here, I'm not talking about Shinde's or BJP's supporters only.There are such politicians in other parties as well.Like Mamata Banerjee,in 2019, she had BJP Youth Wing's Priyanka Sharma arrested because of a meme.In 2012, Professor Abhikesh Mahapatra was arrested for Forwarding mamata Banerjee's cartoon.He reported that TMC goons beat him upand then he was arrested based on a complaint.In 2023, the court discharged him from this case.In 2016, Cartoonist satish Acharya mocked Rahul Gandhi in a cartoon and it was put up on a hoarding at a place called Cartoon Corner.But after this,he got a call from a Local congress leader to remove it and the next day, the municipal authorities removed it.Recently, Uddhav Thackeray has supported Kunal Kamra.But in 2020,a 65 year old man who had retired from the Navy was beaten up by 8-10 goons associated with the Shiv Sena.His only crime was that he had forwarded a cartoon of Uddhav Thackeray.Last month, a Tamil magazine called Vikatan published a cartoon of PM Modi which criticised how Indians were deported to India in chains.While PM Narendra Modi did not object to this during his talks with America.Later, It was found that Vikatan's website was blocked.This is the same Modi who said in a podcast that criticism is thesoul of democracy.And that he welcomes criticism. He told Akshay Kumar that he enjoys the creativity of the memes made on him."When you see memes on yourself,how does it feel?
PM. Modi speaks: More than myself, I notice the creativity in those. Even if it criticises me, I enjoy how aptly it comes across in a meme.
But then, he gets scared of a cartoon.And posters saying 'Overthrow modi to Protect Our Nation.'This isn't how a country prospers.All of us need to understand that these politicians are the managers of our country.Not the ruler.They have been elected to manage their area.Elected by the people.So, the public have the right to mock such political figures. one way to fight this hooliganism isto normalise such jokes in the society.That's why I am telling you to goand make fun of all the leaders from all parties.Through parody songs,satire, cartoons, and memes.Share them on social media use #RightToJoke.
