     This Baba is known by multiple names on social media. Like Pookie Maharaj, because many people find him cute. Or Biscuit Baba, because he gave unique advice on biscuits. His real name is Aniruddhacharya Maharaj, who created Gauri Gopal Ashram in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. You won't get much information about his life. There's only one video on his YouTube channel where he talks about his life. According to this video, Aniruddhacharya was born on 27th September, 1989. His parents lived in a village near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He got his education from his father in religious scriptures. After that, he went to study under Giriraj Shastri Maharaj in Vrindavan. After completing his studies, he returned home where he started Katha Vachan. Katha Vachan is a storytelling format where Hindu scriptures are recited in a storytelling format. It is believed that he was so good at Katha Vachan that he went to many places in the country to do this in front of other people. In May 2019, he returned to Vrindavan and opened his own ashram, Gauri Gopal Ashram. Gradually, thousands of people started coming to this ashram. At the same time, Baba's Satsang and Katha Vachan started becoming popular on social media. This popularity increased so much that according to a News18 report, he would ask the organizers Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1 lakh per day to do Satsang. But today, he is popular on social media not for his Satsangs but his funny life advices.

    Don't try to find the logic because there is no logic here. In another video, he asked a boy that if he is literate, then tell him what to add to 70 to make it 17.

    While watching his videos, you will also feel that he is not a spiritual guru but a stand-up comedian. Because of this virality and comedy, he has been invited to many comedy shows. But behind this comedy, there are many problems in Pookie Maharaj's speeches. In one video, a female devotee of his asks him why her husband doesn't let her work. Maharaj replies, what is the need to work when your husband is working?

   In another video, a female devotee says that her husband locks her up in the house and doesn't let her talk to her parents. Instead of helping the female devotee, Maharaj calls her an educated fool.

   Similarly, this Maharaj says many bad things about women. If you're overly beautiful, you're not blessed but cursed. A wife has only one duty--to serve her husband.

     It's not that only Pookie Maharaj thinks like this in our country. In fact, this is the belief of many Indians.

  According to Pew Research, more than half of the population believe that wives should listen to their husbands. The National Family and Health Survey of 2021 showed that nearly half of the population, including women, believe that a husband can beat his wife. In a society where many women believe that a husband can beat his wife, we need leaders who can teach people how to behave. Instead, people like Pookie Maharaj are becoming popular in our society. Many people blindly believe their words. There's a reason behind this, which psychologists call authority bias. This bias occurs when people start believing a senior person just because they're a senior. This is why when Pookie Maharaj talks trash about woman, people start believing him. This authority bias increases when people see a person who is a religious figure. Religion is very important for people in our country. Pew Research showed that more than half of Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs believe that religion is very important in their lives. Where there's more faith in religion, there's more faith in Babas. Because you can have a one-way conversation with God, but with Babas, you can have an active two-way conversation.

You may find many things about Pookie Maharaj funny. But the line between funny and dangerous is very thin.

In a gathering, Maharaj was asked what's the benefit of drinking cow urine. Maharaj replied that a very big disease can be solved.

      So Maharaj says that drinking cow urine can solve cancer. In a country where Apollo Hospital's report showed that our country has become the cancer capital of the world. Every year, our country has 10 lakh cancer cases. And if you hear the stories of those patients, you'll be moved. But Maharaj says that drinking cow urine can solve that problem too. So why is our government building big hospitals? 

     Break everything down. We should start delivering cow urine within 10 minutes. The problem only gets worse when such Babas get credibility. And this credibility is achieved when many news channels invite them. When such things happen, it's difficult to convince the elders. Because they say that even the news channels have invited Baba. They must have thought it through. Who should tell them that neither the Baba nor the news channel has any credibility?

       Take Baba Ramdev as an example. During the pandemic, when thousands were dying, Patanjali launched the Coronil Kit, saying that it can solve COVID in 7 days. He even said that this kit has WHO certification, which was a lie. Even the Indian Medical Association called this product a lie. But Patanjali's Coronil Kit was on every news channel. And in 4 months, it earned 250 crore rupees. Interestingly, no matter how divided people are on the basis of religion, they remain united because of such Babas. Because such Babas can be found in every religion who fool people.

He solves the problem of a disabled person with his magical mantra. The most unfortunate thing is that the people who are victims of these Babas come from backward and poor sections of society. They need help. But because of that, they get into a trap set by these Babas.

Last month, in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, there was a stampede which claimed the lives of 121 people the event was organised by Bhole Baba. The stampede was caused because the crowd wanted to touch the feet of this Baba. When an investigation was conducted, it was found that most of the followers of the Baba were poor, illiterate, Dalit, and Jatavs. They didn't receive acceptance from the society. That's why they went to the Baba where they felt accepted. Yogesh Nehi, a professor at Ambedkar University, says that such people become victims of Babas because their own religion doesn't respect them. When they don't get respect from their traditional religion, they go to Babas.

Ram Rahim, who is a convicted rapist, is treated like a God by many Dalit-Sikhs. Because the Dalit-Sikhs are not respected by the society. But when they enter Ram Rahim's abode, they get the same respect. In fact, Ram Rahim's abode promises social equality. And everyone is told to forget their old surname and choose a new surname of Insaan so that there's no discrimination between people.

    That's why many people go to Pookie Maharaj, even if he talks nonsense. Many people get attracted to Pookie Maharaj's charity. On the Social media, he is seen feeding the poor keeping the elderly in the ashram, and taking care of the animals. When such people go to Pookie Maharaj, they realize that there are many problems in their lives, but Maharaj can solve them immediately. They're given hope, even if it's fake. One of the reasons for his popularity is our failed medical system. Many people in our country are suffering from mental health issues. These are difficult to resolve. You need a therapist to solve these issues. But many such people go to Pookie Maharaj.

       These are serious issues and we need serious solutions to solve them. But in our country, there's no awareness or resources regarding mental health. According to the WHO, every 1 lakh people should have at least 3 mental health professionals. But in India, this number is only 0.75. Retired professor Dr. Manohar Bhatia said that in such situations, going to a Baba relieves our stress. Because he gives us solutions and happiness. But all the Babas have the same strategy. Targeting those people who are poor, desperate, and backward in society. People who are not accepted by our society. And because of this acceptance, they become the victims of Babas and Maharajas who can give them comfort for a few days, but can't solve their problems. Problems start when people start believing everything these Babas say. They think that these people are God. But they're not God. They're just humans. And they misuse this blind devotion. This is what Asha Ram Bapu Gurmeet Ram Rahim did, who are convicted rapists. The popularity of these Babas shows us that our society is failing. Our society is failing those people who are poor and backward in the society. We can't even solve their problems. And because of this, they become so desperate that they're ready to go to any Baba. As long as we don't correct our society and don't solve the root causes of the people's problems, new Babas will keep coming to the market.
